Grossman, a Texas native and Air Force veteran who earned a finance degree from Southern Methodist University in 1954, built the company into a regional publisher of print phone directories across Texas, with a focus on local business and residential listings.

The South Padre Island directory was one of its flagship publications, covering yellow pages (business categories like restaurants, contractors, and fishing guides) and white pages (residential listings) for South Padre Island, Port Isabel, Laguna Vista, Laguna Heights, and Bayview.

The website itself, southpadreyellowpages.com, appears to have launched as a digital extension of the print directory sometime in the early to mid-2000s, though no exact launch date is documented in available records (it was not captured by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine).

It featured searchable online versions of the directory’s content, including categorized business profiles (e.g., attorneys, beauty salons) and white pages, mirroring the physical book’s structure. However, the website southpadreyellowpages.com went offline sometime after 2018, likely due to the broader decline of independent local directories amid the rise of national platforms like YellowPages.com. It operated for approximately 10–15 years based on available references.

It is still a valuable tool for locals and tourists. The physical book has a beautiful gloss cover is in all the major hotels on the island and in Port.
